picture of the "two towers" architectonical emblem of the city of Bologna

The two towers are the emblem of the city of Bologna. Their names came from the two families which the construction commission is assigned. The towers have been cited by Dante in the Commedia and in the Rime Nuove. Giosuè Carducci dedicated to the towers a poetry in his Odi Barbare.
