The moving memorial to child victims of the 1992-1995 siege

Touching night image of the Memorial to Children Killed during the Siege of Sarajevo (1992-1995), located in Veliki Park opposite the cemetery. The green glass sculpture in the shape of a sail or flame emerges from a circular fountain, illuminated to remember the 1,601 innocent victims under 18 who lost their lives during the 1,425 days of siege, the longest in modern warfare history. The inscription on the fountain edge reads "Spomen obiljezje ubijenoj djeci opkoljenog Sarajeva 1992-1995". In the background, the white gravestones of the cemetery make this place of memory and reflection on the tragedy of the Bosnian war even more solemn.
