View over red roofs with Lokrum Island at sunset

Magnificent sunset view over the red roofs of Dubrovnik's old town with Lokrum Island emerging on the horizon. In the foreground stand the Cathedral of the Assumption with its baroque dome and the bell tower of the Dominican monastery. The golden light of the setting sun illuminates the red tiles creating a warm and enveloping atmosphere. Lokrum Island, just 600 meters from the coast, is a nature reserve rich in botanical gardens, a Benedictine monastery and the ruins of a Napoleonic fort. According to legend, Richard the Lionheart was shipwrecked on this island in 1192 returning from the Third Crusade.
