Majestic view of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, neo-baroque architecture masterpiece designed by Viennese architects Helmer and Fellner and inaugurated in 1895 by Emperor Franz Joseph. The golden ochre facade, decorated with Corinthian columns, allegorical statues and twin domes, represents one of the finest examples of theatrical architecture in Central Europe. The theatre, home to opera, ballet and drama, is the cultural heart of the Croatian capital. The square in front with fountain and gardens creates an elegant urban space in Zagreb center.
