The wooden steps that condemned prisoners climbed to reach the Theresienstadt gallows. These few steps represented the final journey of life for hundreds of prisoners, many of whom were members of the Czechoslovak resistance. The worn wood testifies to the frequent use of this structure during the years of Nazi occupation.
