Taken from the abbey ramparts, the image offers a privileged perspective over Mont Saint-Michel bay during low tide. In the foreground, the mighty medieval walls and the vegetation of the abbey gardens. The sandy expanse extends to the horizon, crossed by the meanders of the Couesnon River which traditionally marks the border between Normandy and Brittany. On the horizon, the islet of Tombelaine can be glimpsed, once also home to a priory. The golden light of late afternoon accentuates the warm tones of the sand and ancient stones, creating an atmosphere of serene contemplation over this landscape shaped by the tides.
