Pegasus Bridge over the Caen Canal, objective of Operation Deadstick. Shortly after midnight on June 6, 1944, British gliders landed just meters from the bridge, and paratroopers captured it in just 10 minutes. It was the first action of the Allied invasion of occupied Europe.
