A red brick barrack with sheet metal roof, one of the original surviving structures at Sachsenhausen camp. These barracks housed Soviet prisoners of war, who were subjected to particularly brutal treatment. A commemorative plaque is visible in front of the building. Starting in 1941, thousands of Red Army soldiers were deported here and subjected to forced labor, medical experiments, and mass executions. The austere structure testifies to the inhumane conditions in which prisoners were forced to live.
