Extraordinary view from above of the Odeon of Herodes Atticus with the Athens panorama and Philopappos Hill in the background. Built in 161 AD by wealthy Greco-Roman patron Herodes Atticus in memory of his wife Regilla, this theater could hold 5000 spectators. The semicircular cavea, monumental stage building with its three orders of arches, and circular orchestra are perfectly visible from this privileged perspective. Still used today for concerts and performances during the Athens Festival, the Odeon magnificently unites history and contemporary culture.
