The photograph is taken from the terrace of Santo Wines winery and offers a view northward along the western edge of the Santorini caldera. In the foreground, visitors are seated at tables on the panoramic terrace, enjoying the afternoon sun and the view. In the background stands the imposing rock wall of the caldera, with its geological stratifications clearly visible: light layers of pumice alternating with dark bands of lava. On top of the cliffs, the villages of Fira and Imerovigli appear as a white strip. The cobalt blue waters of the caldera reflect the clear sky. This perspective allows appreciation of the vastness of the caldera and the height of the cliffs exceeding 300 meters, the result of the colossal Minoan eruption that about 3,600 years ago destroyed part of the island.
