A boat full of tourists navigates the turquoise waters of Melissani Lake, one of the most spectacular natural wonders of Greece. This karst cave, discovered in 1951, hosts an underground lake of brackish water formed by the partial collapse of the vault millennia ago. The stratified limestone walls rise majestically around the crystal-clear water, creating a natural amphitheater of rare beauty. Light filtering through the upper opening illuminates the waters giving them shades ranging from deep blue to emerald green.
