Bari’s 1930s buildings on the Nazario Sauro seafront, photographed from the sea beyond the breakwater, with the Palazzo della Provincia clock tower. Boulders fill the foreground; across the sheltered water stand the three public buildings.\r\n\r\nOn the left is the Palazzo dell'Aeronautica, the Air Force building, with antennas above its tower. In the centre stands the headquarters of the Presidency of the Apulia Region. The company that restored its façades attributes the final design to Carlo Vannoni. On the right is the Palazzo della Provincia, built between 1932 and 1935 to a design by Luigi Baffa, with contributions from Saverio Dioguardi and, later, Vincenzo Chiaia. It now houses the Metropolitan City of Bari administration and the Corrado Giaquinto Art Gallery.\r\n\r\nThe three buildings combine geometric forms and regular rows of windows with the arches and contrasting façade materials of the Palazzo della Provincia, dominated by its clock tower.
