In the 1930s a process of monumental rendering of the Bari waterfront was started. The provincial building, as well as that of the aeronautics visible on the extreme left of the photo, were built in relation to this plan on the Lungomare Nazario Sauro. Especially the tower of the palace of the province, with its clock and its references to civil buildings of the medieval period, have given a unique character to the appearance of the Bari promenade.
