A glimpse of the historic center of Conversano with its typical streets

A characteristic street of the historical center of Conversano, a town rich in history and charm. and origins of Conversano date back to the Iron Age, when it was a peucet center known as Norba. Even today, it is possible to admire the remains of the ancient megalithic walls that surrounded the town, inside of which was discovered a necropolis with burials of the fourth century BC. With the fall of the Western Empire, Norba disappeared, but from the fifth century A.D. there is news of a new settlement called Casale Cupersanem. This new center acquired importance in the eleventh century under Goffredo d'Altavilla, becoming a center of significant power.
