The entrance to Castello dei Badiali is monumental and impressive. As can be seen in the image, a wide stone staircase, embellished with potted plants, leads visitors upwards. The path continues with a ramp that culminates in the actual entrance: a large arched portal set into the massive surrounding walls. The entire access route was designed to be imposing and easily defensible. Next to the portal, protecting the entrance itself, stands the massive cylindrical tower known as the Torrione Angioino. This structure, built with the same light-colored stone as the rest of the fortress, is a classic example of medieval military architecture. Its robust shape and strategic position emphasize its ancient defensive function, making it the most recognizable and imposing element of the castle's front.
