Facade of the church of Santa Maria del Barsento a Noci: Apulian architectural treasure
In the Middle Ages, the church of Santa Maria del Barsento hosted a monastic community around which, since the 11th century, a flourishing rural community developed. A vast medieval sepulchre, discovered behind the church, revealed human remains with signs of surgery, indicating the practice of the Pharmacopoeia at the monks. Also inside the church were found several burials.
