Solitary Farmhouse Among Wheat Fields in the Hinterland of Genzano di Lucania

A white farmhouse, typical rural architecture of the Murgia, emerges isolated among the expanses of golden wheat. The building, probably a stable or agricultural warehouse, represents the testimony of an economy based on livestock and cereal farming that has characterized these lands for generations. The surrounding fields, in various stages of cultivation, show the typical shades of Murgian summer: from the intense gold of ripe wheat to the green of pastures. The elevated position of the structure allowed farmers to control the vast agricultural holdings. Today many of these farmhouses are abandoned, silent sentinels of a changing rural world.
