The Fosse Ardeatine mausoleum with 335 identical tombs arranged in orderly rows under the imposing reinforced concrete roof. Each tomb bears the name of the victim and fresh flowers left by visitors. The brutalist architecture of the roof, designed by Nello Aprile and other architects, seems to float above the burials creating an effect of eternal protection.
