The image shows the entrance of the natural cave connecting the Inland Sea to the open Mediterranean at Dwejra on Gozo island. This inland lagoon, formed by the collapse of a limestone cave, is connected to the sea by a natural tunnel approximately 80 meters long through which traditional fishing boats pass. The cliff walls, stratified and eroded by water, reveal millions of years of geological history. The emerald waters of the lagoon create an evocative contrast with the light rock. The Inland Sea is one of Gozo's most photographed sites and a starting point for boat excursions to the surrounding caves.
