The Borgund Stave Church stands majestically with its entirely wooden structure, surrounded by the small cemetery and the green mountains of Western Norway. Built around 1180, this stave church represents one of the best preserved examples of the 28 stave churches remaining in Norway out of over 1000 originally built. The structure features the characteristic overlapping roofs decorated with dragon heads at the corners, a heritage of Viking art. The dark walls, treated with pine tar, contrast with the bright green of the surrounding lawn on this day with typically Norwegian variable sky.
