The front view of the Monolith sculptural complex shows the impressive stairway leading to the Frogner Park summit. The 36 granite sculptural groups flanking the stairs represent scenes of human life in all its phases. At the center stands the Monolith, focal point of the entire park and culmination of Gustav Vigeland artistic project. The artist worked for over 40 years on the realization of this extraordinary open-air museum featuring over 200 sculptures.
