The Kamieniolom Liban, the stone quarry where Plaszow camp prisoners were forced into hard labor

The Liban limestone quarry (Kamieniolom Liban), located in the immediate vicinity of the Plaszow concentration camp. In this quarry, camp prisoners were forced to work in inhumane conditions, extracting stone for Nazi constructions. The image shows the rocky walls of the quarry, now partially flooded, with abandoned industrial structures in the center. The quarry was also used as a location for some scenes of Spielberg's film Schindler's List. The area, now abandoned, retains a ghostly atmosphere that recalls the suffering of the prisoners.
