The reconstructed gallows in front of the entrance to Auschwitz crematorium I. This gallows was used for the public execution of Rudolf Hoss, the camp commandant, sentenced to death in 1947. The entrance to the crematorium, partially underground, led to the gas chamber and crematorium ovens.
