Panoramic View of Rasnov Fortress

Majestic panoramic view of Rasnov Fortress dominating the Transylvanian landscape from atop its rocky hill. The mighty medieval walls, built in the 13th century by the Teutonic Knights, stand against the sky while snow traces dot the surrounding slopes. This peasant fortress, one of the best preserved in Romania, served as a refuge for inhabitants of the villages below during Ottoman and Tatar invasions, able to shelter entire communities for months thanks to its self-sufficient structures.
