A breathtaking panoramic view shows Riddarholmen island, one of Stockholm's architectural jewels, at sunset. Elegant 17th-century noble palaces line the shore, with their pastel-colored facades reflected in the waters of Lake Malaren. On the left, the red brick bell tower of Storkyrkan, Stockholm's cathedral, can be recognized, while on the right rises the characteristic cast-iron openwork spire of Riddarholmskyrkan. The Wrangelska Palatset, the Baroque palace dominating the scene, was a residence of Swedish nobles. The dramatic sky with dark clouds creates an almost theatrical atmosphere, typical of the northern light that has inspired generations of Scandinavian artists.
