In april 1986 almost 17000 children were living in Prypjat. The morning after the explosion of the reactor n.4, the 26th april 1986, local authorities, unaware of the danger, let people go to their work and let students go to school. Only at 2:00 pm of the 27th april 1986 was ordered the evacuation.
