This bronze sculpture, nearly 10 meters tall, is dedicated to all Marines who died defending the nation since 1775. The inscription Uncommon Valor Was a Common Virtue recalls the extraordinary courage shown by American soldiers. The American flag flying atop the monument is raised every day at dawn and lowered at sunset.
