The shot frames from below the characteristic triangular tip of the Flatiron Building, one of the most photographed buildings in New York. Built in 1902 to a design by Daniel Burnham, the skyscraper owes its nickname to its shape resembling a flat iron. The image highlights the details of the Beaux-Arts style facade, with terracotta decorations, arched windows and ornamental cornice. Standing 87 meters tall and located at the intersection of Broadway, Fifth Avenue and 23rd Street, the Flatiron Building represents one of Manhattan's first skyscrapers and a pioneering example of steel-frame architecture.
