Belzec extermination camp memorial entrance

Belzec was opened in 1942. With Sobibor and Treblinka it was the centre of the extermination program of the polish jews called by Nazis Operation Reinhardt. These camps where different from camps like Auschwitz: here prisoners had no chance to survive being selected to work. Every prisoner sent to these camps was sent there to be killed the soonest possible.
