This temple was the heart of the religious cult of the ancient Athens. Here was told that there was the feud between Ahtena and Poseidon. The architect of the temple was perhaps Filocles, according to others instead was Fidias: he started the construction of the temple in 421 b.C. commissioned by Alcibiades. The construction was over in 406 b.C.
