This spectacular panoramic photograph offers the most iconic view of Cesky Krumlov, taken from an elevated point allowing to embrace the entire old town. The Vltava river draws a wide horseshoe-shaped bend that almost completely surrounds the old town, creating a natural peninsula. The red roofs of medieval houses crowd together, dotted by church bell towers. On the left dominates the castle complex with its famous cylindrical tower decorated with Renaissance frescoes. The Church of St. Vitus with its Gothic bell tower rises at the center of the composition. In the background, the wooded hills of the Bohemian Forest close the horizon. This view helps understand why Cesky Krumlov was inscribed on the UNESCO list: a perfectly preserved example of a European medieval town.
