The deconstructivist Dancing House building by Frank Gehry with the monument to writer Alois Jirasek in Prague
The photograph shows the Dancing House (Tancici dum), one of the most iconic buildings of Prague contemporary architecture. Designed by Vlado Milunic in collaboration with Frank Gehry and completed in 1996, the structure consists of two towers that seem to dance together, earning the nickname "Fred and Ginger" in homage to the famous dancers. The undulating glass tower represents the female figure, while the white concrete one embodies the male partner. In the foreground, on a green lawn, stands the bronze monument dedicated to Czech writer Alois Jirasek. In the background, the Art Nouveau palaces along the Vltava riverbank testify to Prague architectural eclecticism. The building today houses a hotel, restaurants, and a panoramic gallery at the top.
