A Characteristic Alley with Half-Timbered Houses in the Petite France District of Strasbourg

The Alsatian half-timbered houses, with typical white facades and dark wooden beams, overlook the narrow stone-paved street. The district, once inhabited by tanners, millers and fishermen, owes its name to the ancient hospital that treated syphilis patients, called at the time the French disease.
