The Oberbaumbrucke is one of the most beautiful and photographed bridges in Berlin, with its distinctive neo-Gothic towers in red brick reminiscent of medieval Brandenburg architecture. Built between 1894 and 1896, it connects the Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain districts across the Spree river. During the city's division, it was a checkpoint between East and West Berlin. Today the double-deck bridge hosts the U1 metro line on the upper level and vehicular and pedestrian traffic on the lower level. The image captures the reflection of the towers in the calm waters of the Spree at sunset.
