An evocative atmosphere envelops the Brandenburg Gate in this night image taken during a rainy evening. The artificial lighting enhances the twelve Doric columns and the Quadriga on top, while the wet stone pavement reflects the lights creating a mirror effect. Tourists with umbrellas move creating blurred figures from the long exposure. This perspective from the Pariser Platz side shows the gate as it appeared to West Berlin citizens during the Cold War, when it represented the impassable border with the East.
