A beautiful sunny day illuminates Pariser Platz, the square that opens on the eastern side of the Brandenburg Gate. The fountain in the foreground creates an elegant contrast with the neoclassical architecture of the gate, while tourists from around the world crowd this symbol of German reunification. The square, completely rebuilt after the fall of the Wall, is now surrounded by embassies, luxury hotels and the Academy of Arts. The name derives from the Prussian victory over Paris in 1814, when the Quadriga was brought back from France.
