The majestic golden Victory statue (Goldelse for Berliners) towers over the Victory Column in the heart of Tiergarten. Standing 8.3 meters tall and weighing 35 tons, it was created by Friedrich Drake in 1873 to commemorate Prussian victories. The winged female figure holds a laurel wreath and a scepter topped with the Iron Cross. The column, originally located in front of the Reichstag, was moved to its current position by the Nazis in 1939. The observation platform, reachable by 285 steps, offers a spectacular view of the city.
