The majestic skyline of Dresden stands against the cobalt blue night sky, with its Baroque monuments perfectly illuminated and reflected in the calm waters of the Elbe river. From left we recognize the dome of the Academy of Fine Arts with the golden angel, the unmistakable silhouette of the Frauenkirche, the castle tower and the bell tower of the Hofkirche. Boats moored along the Bruehlsche Terrasse complete this view that earned Dresden the nickname Florence on the Elbe. The city, almost completely destroyed in February 1945, has been rebuilt with patient dedication, returning this architectural heritage to the world.
