Close-up detail of one of the Ravensbrück crematorium ovens, with the cast iron door open revealing the internal combustion chamber. The blackened refractory bricks and metal rails for introducing bodies are still visible. This oven, along with the other in the structure, was used continuously in the final years of the camp when deaths increased exponentially. The close view of this instrument of death invites deep reflection on the barbarism of the Nazi concentration camp system.
