The interior of the Ravensbrück crematorium shows the original ovens used to incinerate the bodies of camp victims. The two cast iron ovens with open doors reveal the combustion chamber, while rails on the floor were used to transport bodies. Fresh flowers have been placed as tribute to the victims. The crematorium was built in 1943 when the death toll in the camp increased dramatically. It is estimated that at least 28,000 women died at Ravensbrück from starvation, disease, torture, and executions.
