The Tower A building (Turm A) constitutes the main entrance to Sachsenhausen concentration camp. The white two-story structure is topped by the characteristic octagonal watchtower from which the SS controlled the entire Appellplatz and the radially arranged barracks. Built in 1936, this building housed the camp administration offices and represents an example of Nazi concentration camp architecture, designed to maximize control and intimidation of prisoners.
