The photograph captures the moment when the sun is about to disappear behind the marine horizon, right next to the Akrotiri lighthouse. The lighthouse structure, built in 1892, stands as a dark silhouette against the sky ablaze with orange, red, and purple sunset tones. The lighthouse sits on a small rocky promontory surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation. The sea, now in shadow, reflects the last lights of day creating a silvery surface. On the right, some people sitting on the rocks watch the natural spectacle. This spot, located at the southwestern tip of the island, offers one of Santorini's most spectacular sunsets, away from the crowd gathering in Oia, allowing a more intimate and contemplative experience.
