Cycladic architecture in pastel colors on the edge of Oia red volcanic cliff in Santorini
The photograph offers an unusual perspective of Oia, showing the village from the lower part of the caldera. The white, ochre, and orange houses are arranged in tiers on top of the volcanic cliff with its intense red and brown tones. On the left, tourists walk along the alleys leading to the castle. The geological stratification of the cliff is clearly visible, with layers of light pumice and dark volcanic rock. Caves and rock dwellings have been carved directly into the rock over the centuries. The contrast between the warm colors of the buildings and the red of the volcanic earth creates a unique chromatic palette. The blue sky with some white clouds and the deep blue of the sea complete this composition highlighting the island's particular geology.
