The image shows one of the most fascinating natural phenomena of Balos lagoon: the characteristic pink-colored sand. This unique coloration is due to the presence of tiny fragments of shells and corals mixed with white sand. The crystal-clear waters, of intense turquoise, gently lap the shore, creating a chromatic contrast of extraordinary beauty. In the background rise the limestone mountains of the Gramvousa peninsula, with their rocky walls in golden and reddish tones. Balos lagoon, located at the northwestern tip of Crete, is protected and its very shallow waters make it ideal for families with children. This beach is regularly ranked among the most beautiful in Europe.
