The monumental staircase of the Kos Asclepion propylaea, which led pilgrims and the sick from the lower terrace to the upper one of the sanctuary. The dark stone steps, perfectly preserved, rise toward the blue sky flanked by a majestic cypress. The Asclepion was structured on three terraces: the first housed the medical school and thermal baths, the second the main temple and sacrifice altar, the third the temple of Asclepius with the statue of the god of medicine. This tiered structure symbolized the patient's path of physical and spiritual healing.
