The Anonymous statue (Anonymus szobra) is located in Városliget Park in Budapest, near Vajdahunyad Castle. Created in 1903 by sculptor Miklós Ligeti, it depicts the mysterious medieval chronicler who authored the Gesta Hungarorum, the oldest Hungarian chronicle. The image shows the statue in winter, with snow accentuating its mysterious atmosphere. The hooded figure sits with a pen in hand, face hidden in the shadow of the hood. The inscription on the pedestal reads "ANONYMVS - GLORIOSISSIMI BELAE REGIS NOTARIVS" (The anonymous notary of the most glorious King Béla). Touching the statue's pen is considered good luck for writers.
