The Országház, the Hungarian Parliament, stands majestically on the eastern bank of the Danube in the Pest district. Built in neo-Gothic style between 1885 and 1904, it is the third largest parliament in the world and the largest building in Hungary. The image captures the building at sunset, when the golden light enhances its 365 towers, spires and Gothic arches. The central dome, 96 meters high, symbolizes the year of the founding of the Hungarian state (896 AD). The reflection of the structure on the calm waters of the Danube creates an effect of extraordinary beauty, making this view one of the most photographed in Europe.
