The Széchenyi Chain Bridge (Széchenyi lánchíd) represents one of the most iconic symbols of Budapest. Inaugurated in 1849, it was the first permanent bridge to connect Buda and Pest across the Danube. The image captures the majesty of the suspension structure at sunset, with the neoclassical limestone pillars standing against the golden sky. In the background, the unmistakable silhouette of the Hungarian Parliament can be seen, while the waters of the Danube reflect the warm colors of the golden hour. The bridge, designed by English engineer William Tierney Clark, remains a masterpiece of 19th-century engineering.
