An oblique aerial view of Mola di Bari's Angevin castle, showing its angular layout, sloping walls and relationship with Piazza XX Settembre. The fortress fills the foreground, surrounded by houses and open spaces towards the seafront. Sloping masonry and projecting corners define the building's outline. The view also reveals its roofs and inner courtyard; at ground level, a strip of greenery separates part of the walls from the paved forecourt. Founded under Charles I of Anjou, the castle was altered over the following centuries to adapt its defences to artillery. Beyond the fortress, on the left, Piazza XX Settembre is recognisable by its fountain and the circular arrangement of its planted beds. A church with a rose window and green dome faces the square. Taken on 17 October 2026, the photograph records the colours of stone and plaster in the soft evening light.
