A group of ruined farmhouses is distributed across the terrain of Monte Caccia, offering an overview of the residential nucleus created by the agrarian reform. The building in the foreground shows the partially collapsed wooden roof, with the trusses still visible emerging from the perimeter walls. The concrete block and brick walls have large gaps and collapses, while spontaneous vegetation has colonized every available space. In the background, other ruins in various stages of decay complete the panorama of this ghost village of Alta Murgia. The structures were built in the 1950s to house peasant families assigned to reform farms, but isolation, harsh climate and poor soil productivity led to progressive abandonment. The intense blue sky and late afternoon light accentuate the contrast between the vitality of nature and the decay of human works.
